On the sunny day of 18th of November 2014, I graduated.
A day I never really thought I would experience. Not because I don't believe in myself, not because I don't think I deserved it, nor because I didn't work hard for it - because I did. I worked really hard for it. But because a graduation ceremony is not a cultural tradition of mine.
Not just that, but also because growing up I was constantly told there wouldn't become anything of me by my peers. I could have chosen to take it and believe them, at times I did, other times it just gave me strength. With a difficult childhood, the road up was very long and extremely difficult at times but mostly it was just a way to drive me towards a bright future I am now starting to face.
Those who said I couldn't, only made me want to show them even more that I could. The results of that are starting to show. The endless nights of hard work and hard words that where thrown can now be seen in a bachelor of arts degree in advertising. Never take disapproval from others serious, if anything - make it into a reason to show them that you are better. Make it into a reason to drive you to where you want to go, even if it doesn't seem realistic at the time.
At the end of the day, the only person you should believe is yourself, mostly you should believe in yourself.
On the sunny day of 18th of November 2014, I graduated from Southampton Solent University with a BA (Hons) in Advertising.
Hopefully I can say the say the same next year when I graduate from my MA in Creative Advertising.
